What's the best way to find land for sale
Main Post:
Hi All, what's the best way to find land for sale? Thanks
Top Comment: If you don't have time, find the best realtor to search for you. If you have time, start from online platforms such as zillow, assuming you are looking for US land.
There is a patch of land for sale behind my home. Am I able to remortgage on my current property to be able to get funds to buy this land? I wouldn't intend to build on the land but I'd hope to make a big allotment style garden if this makes any difference.

As the title says, can I borrow against house to buy land adjacent to my house to extend my garden.

Yes, most mortgage providers would allow equity release to acquire more land / property (in principle).
The cheapest land for sale in North America is $13.13 per acre in New Mexico and the largest lot for sale is 788,000 acres in Nevada

I scrapped a lot of data for a side project I have been working on and I made a website to display it here: Landperacre.com. I wanted to find out how the States and Provinces rank against each other based on their cheapest land for sale per acre. on the website is the data mapped and charted for visitors to view.
Side Note: 788,000 acres is easily visible from space and would make the land owner the 71st largest private land owner on earth.

The value of land often is tied to its availability of water.
How would you get enough water to allot the absolute-minimum requirement of a gallon a day per person?
Just something to think about before you get excited about inexpensive land. :)

Best website to buy land for the lowest price?
Main Post:
I have been having some trouble. I am located in Florida but I am looking for land more north because I have heard land in Florida is quite pricey.
Top Comment: landandfarm.com lets you find land by cost per acre price. It's pretty interesting to see what you can get in one state vs. the next. For example, last time I looked I could get about 600 acres in CO for the price of 30 in NC. A lot could depend on the specific area though.. Still a good place to start looking IMO!

Just watch out for swamp or low lying area that prone to flooding. Check to see if it is buildable with a septic permit or perc test, if no water or sewer connection available. Great if you find one: good investment and camping place in the meantime.
Buying land

Curious about what some land buyers may think as far as where the next land boom may hit in Florida? Looking all over Zillow and there is relatively inexpensive land. But not sure what may increase in value and what will stay a tumbleweed scrap heap in 5-10yrs.

If you’re asking this question then buying land may not be the move for you... saying that sincerely as a commercial broker. Buy land you’ll use, unless you have serious wealth and can afford to tie up a small amount on a speculative land purchase.
What is the best website for searching and buying land? Landwatch?

Top Comment: Recently I've been finding more on Zillow if you're looking for smaller parcels. If you're looking for 100's of acres then landwatch. I would caution that I've also seen more than a few very weird listings on zillow. Been listed for over 2 years, absolutely insanely overpriced, that sort of thing. I think they're fishing for people with more money than sense or foreign investors maybe.
Land in Florida

Is it relatively easy to buy a couple acres not more than 45 min from a city in Florida? Husband needs to be close to a city for his job, but I want a couple acres for my dogs and I want to get goats/etc. Where might be good places to look for houses and land for around 300k or less if that’s possible?
Top Comment: Realtor here. Short answer is not really. Florida was very, very late development wise. The original sections and parcels were much more single ownership (one person controlled almost everything south of I4 for example). Even then mass construction didn't really happen until a/c came in the 1950s and 1960s. And because it was mostly as vacation housing was mostly maximized for profit ROI of the land. Eventually we got to the current suburban HOA with houses with maybe 10 foot setbacks on the sides. So Florida skipped most of the other smaller subdividing lots since everything happened after mechanization. Other states subdividing happened early because someone could only really farm 20-100 acres. That's not to say its completely non existant. It does exist, just usually not very close to major metros, because developable land near cities runs around 100k an acre nowadays. So you usually need to be 45-1.5 from major cities, airports, interstates to start to see these sorts of homes. Places like Brooksville, Myakka City, Lake City. If you find cheap acreage close to interstate or cities it is almost certainly wetlands / swampland and unusable. You have to be veeeeeery careful when buying Vacant land in the state. Here's an article on swampland if you're interested, but it also applies to what appears to be normal lots. Someone here the other week found 5 acres and when I dug into it only about a 30x80foot section of it was outside of wetlands which with the 25' setback requirement in most areas meant it was unusable for anything. https://ashlarre.com/florida-land-scams/
What are the Best Websites to Find Land for Sale?

I'm currently using LandWatch.com to search for land in my home state of Georgia. Are there any other websites like LandWatch? Or are there other ways to find land (public auctions, foreclosure, etc.) that you could recommend?
I'm looking to purchase this year and setup my home and permaculture business on site.

What’s in the best online resource or tool to buy land in the US?
Main Post:
I’ve tried the normal sites like Redfin, Zillow and Trulia and it just seems like their inventory for land is very limited.
Am I missing something or is there a better place to search exclusively for land for sale?
